The Full Story
Our Mascot
The Vendéens were devout Catholics who bravely opposed the persecution of their Church and the assault on their cherished traditions during the tumultuous period of the French Revolution. Rising against the Revolutionary government in 1793, these simple yet courageous people stood firm in defense of their faith and liberty, even in the face of overwhelming odds. Above all, they defended their priests, who were hunted by the revolutionary armies.
Despite facing ruthless suppression and unimaginable atrocities, the Vendéens remained steadfast in their commitment to their Catholic beliefs and traditional values. Their unwavering resolve and sacrificial courage serve as a timeless testament to the enduring power of faith and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

Emulating Virtue and Courage
At Holy Family Academy, we draw inspiration from the steadfastness and courage of the Vendéens in our support of the liberty of the Church and the defense of the traditional family. Just as the Vendéens stood against tyranny and persecution, we strive to uphold principles of faith, freedom, and family values in our school community. By emulating the virtues exemplified by the Vendéens, we aim to instill in our students a deep sense of moral integrity, resilience, and commitment to standing up for what is right.
Proudly Representing as the Vendéens
At Holy Family Academy, we honor the legacy of the Vendéens by proudly adopting their name for our athletic teams. Symbolizing courage, resilience, and unwavering faith, the 'Vendéens' embody the spirit of our school community as we strive for excellence both on and off the field. Many of our teams proudly display the Vendée Sacred Heart insignia on their uniforms, serving as a constant reminder of the enduring legacy of faith and fortitude that inspires us at Holy Family Academy.
